This note is intended to inform you about the status of preparations of the 2nd International Czech Republic Beach Tennis Championships, which is due to start in 30 days. I am delighted to inform you that everything is up and ready. Apart from sporting adventures the participants can look forward to New Year’s celebrations in the historical centre of Prague. We are preparing a bar tour of the most emblematic Prague’s bars for you.

The semis and finals will get TV coverage.

We have arranged for participant’s accommodation in TOP Hotel (at participant’s own costs) at special rates and with transportation services from/to the sports facility. Single room 99 EUR Double room 115 EUR Triple romm 159 EUR. Prices stated for executive room including buffet breakfast, VAT and municipal charges.

At the time being the best world’s double Alex Mingozzi confirmed his participation at the tournament.

Categories:
• Men’s double (32 pairs maximum)
• Women’s double (16 pairs maximum)
• Doubles and mixed doubles (16 pairs maximum)

A maximum of 4 pairs in men’s and 2 pairs in women’s and mixed doubles can qualify from each country. All pairs will be registered on first come, first serve basis following the receipt of registration forms by email at the official address of the Czech Beach Tennis Association. It is not possible to register more pairs due to capacity restrictions.

Weather prediction:
Temperature in Prague on 31 December 2007 (last year):
Cloudy with overcast sky, snow showers over most of the country. Maximum temperatures -1 to 3 °C.

Starting fees:
• No starting fee applies to participants nominated by national associations
• Starting fee for one pair in case of individual nomination is 100 € (to be paid by bank transfer on 21 December 2008 at the latest).

Rules:
• Special beach tennis rackets to be used
• Classic tennis balls to be used
• Pitch dimensions: 8 by 16 meters; net height: 170 centimetres
• Single set matches of 8 games without deuces. In case of a tie after 8 games a classic tie-break should decide.
• Semi-finals: best out of three with 6 points to a set.
• One serve only; in case the ball touches the net serve to be repeated with no penalty.

Support:
Special-purpose hall with 3 courts and heated sand will be available during the first tournament day.

Semi-final matches and final matches of all categories will be played on the centre court in the hall with heated sand. There are changing rooms available on site as well as medical centre and a bar. VIP premises will be available in the course of the tournament in the adjoining hall with areas dedicated to players, media and visitors. Refreshments for players and their support will be provided free of charge.
