ITF Beach Tennis World Tour Championships starts this week

This Friday 6th May at the historic Foro Italico in Rome, Italy, the sign-in for players will be held prior to the eagerly awaited Saturday start of the third annual ITF Beach Tennis World Championships. The event is scheduled over four days covering May 7th – 10th and this year will see it held alongside both the ATP and WTA Rome tournaments, ensuring that fans get a full tennis experience during their time in Rome as the world’s best players descend upon the Italian capital.
A total of 17 different nations from around the world will be represented at the 2011 Championships with entries received from 24 teams in each of the men’s and women’s events to battle it out for the honour of being crowned the 2011 ITF Beach Tennis Tour World Champions.
Making a return to defend their 2010 women’s title are Federica Bacchetta & Giulia Spazzoli whilst in the men’s event, the champions of the past two years have both split to team with new partners in the chase for 2011 glory.
Nations Represented at the 2011 Championships
Italy, Brazil, France, Switzerland, Japan, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Czech Republic, Portugal, Austria, Poland, Belarus, Hungary, Russia, Greece and Bulgaria.
