A total of 17 different nations from around the world will be represented at the 2011 Championships with entries received from 24 teams in each of the men’s and women’s events to battle it out for the honour of being crowned the 2011 ITF Beach Tennis Tour World Champions.

2010 saw new year-end World No. 1’s crowned in both the men’s and women’s circuits as the Italian domination of the ITF Beach Tennis Tour continued for the third straight year. The change in the women’s year-end world No. 1 was significant as, for the first time since the ITF Beach Tennis Tour began in 2008, Simona Briganti & Rossella Stefanelli were ousted from the top spot by fellow Italian’s Federica Bacchetta and Giulia Spazzoli. For the men, Alex Mingozzi took over the year-end top spot from Paolo Tazzari to become the third different holder of the year-end No. 1 ranking.

Beach tennis is pretty young event, nevertheless, it already has become an official sport for Russia. Therefore attraction of new participants appeared to be one of the primary goals for organizers. During international competitions on this sport, Russian players just start to show their skills, however almost all Russian players and European professionals have spent this past weekend in Northern capital, Saint-Petersburg.

The Czech Beach Tennis Association has organized an international tournament in Prague for the past three years. Last year the tournament took place as the highest-level ITF tournament. The participants appreciated the organizer’s organizational qualities as well as the generally professional approach to the tournament. In the first half  2010, the Czech Beach Tennis Association arranged for organization financing and for financial rewards for more than 100 participants. However, the ITF, with regard to its internal conditions, did not put the tournament on its time schedule list for 2010.

Player nominations for the forthcoming European Beach Tennis Championships have been announced. The event is set to take place at the Club Ali Bey in Antalya, Turkey from September 10th - 12th, and will see a record 17 nations taking part with some familiar names in action.

Beach Tennis USA Hosts the first-ever International Tennis Federation (ITF) sanctioned Beach Tennis International Championship in Long Beach, NY. Two-day event includes professional and amateur competition with over 100 teams set to play from all over the world.
